A New Beginning for Sucilla Nadasen and Her Family: A Story of Hope and Perseverance

In the heartfelt moment captured in this photo, Samantha proudly holds the identification document of her 75-year-old mother, Sucilla Nadasen. This small but significant piece of paper marks the beginning of a new chapter for the entire Nadasen family.

At Mount Olive Outreach, we want to express our deepest gratitude to Stichting Opstap and Grip Adviseurs for their invaluable support. Together, we’ve helped Sucilla Nadasen secure her long-awaited identification document—something that may seem simple to many, but for Sucilla, it has been a life-changing milestone.

For the Nadasen family, this moment is about more than just paperwork. It opens the door to a future filled with possibilities. With Sucilla’s ID now in hand, we can finally begin the process of obtaining identification documents for her 45-year-old daughter, Samantha, along with her 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. This will empower the entire family to start fresh, offering them the opportunity to build a better future.

The significance of this achievement cannot be overstated. For years, the family has been living in difficult circumstances, relying solely on the small income that Samantha earns from her temporary jobs. Now, with Sucilla’s ID, she is eligible for the government’s old age grant, which will provide much-needed financial assistance to the entire family. This newfound support will ease the burdens that have weighed heavily on them.

Thanks to your generosity and belief in this initiative, 16 family members now have renewed hope for their future. While the road ahead may take time, with perseverance, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Here’s an update on the family’s progress since Sucilla received her ID:

  • Chezlin, one of the grandchildren, was assisted by Le Themba in reprinting her birth certificate and applying for her identification document.
  • Salma and Cherry, two other grandchildren, couldn’t obtain their proof of birth and were supported by one of our caregivers to apply for their birth certificates. Their appointments for fingerprint verification and ID applications are scheduled for March 2025.
  • We also encountered a challenge when Sucilla’s granddaughter passed away without a death certificate. While we have managed to secure a letter of proof of burial, we are still awaiting the official death certificate from the funeral parlour.

Thanks to the Mount Olive Outreach team’s dedication and support, the Nadasen family is on its way to having all the documentation they need. This will not only simplify their daily lives but also give them the stability they’ve been longing for.

This is a story of hope, resilience, and the power of community support. With each document we help secure, we are not just changing the lives of individuals—we are opening doors to new opportunities and a brighter future for an entire family.
