This month, Stichting Opstap continued their dedication to supporting both Khaya and Khaya LeThemba with a series of impactful visits and celebrations. The day began with a warm welcome for our Opstap visitors, setting the tone with songs, laughter and dancing with each other.
First, we made our way to Wimpy at N1 to meet and greet an old Young Life beneficiary, Thobile Maphalala, who has made remarkable strides in her life. With assistance from our youth skills team, Thobile was able to apply for and secure employment, a significant milestone in her journey. In recognition of her hard work and achievements, we presented Thobile with a food parcel and a dignity gift pack, reminding her of the community’s ongoing support.
Next, the team visited the Thembelihle Clinic, where we took the opportunity to observe how Opstap has partnered with the clinic to improve the care and support for children living with HIV (CLHIV). Ensuring adherence to treatment and providing consistent care are crucial, and this partnership aims to make a lasting difference in the lives of these vulnerable children.
Our next stop was at the Thembelihle Centre, where we had the pleasure of meeting and greeting our Early Childhood Development (ECD) beneficiaries. The children were delighted as we dished up snacks for them before releasing them to enjoy their day. The joy and smiles were a testament to the importance of our continued support in nurturing the younger generation.
We then headed to meet the Nedasens family, a family that Opstap has assisted in obtaining their identification documents. The Nedasens are also being supported in acquiring the remaining birth certificates for their children, which will enable them to apply for the child support grant. During this meeting, we had a one-on-one conversation with the family, discussing how we can continue to assist them in improving their living conditions and securing a brighter future for their children.
Throughout the day, Opstap brought hope, practical support, and a sense of belonging to our beneficiaries. Opstap’s commitment to uplifting the community continues to create lasting change. Their efforts truly demonstrate the power of community support and the importance of creating opportunities for those in need. Every visit from them always leaves such a positive change for many!
