The Khosa family, living in an RDP house in Lehae, faces financial hardships with both parents unemployed. Nhlawuleko Khosa, at just 15, became a mother after an unplanned pregnancy, feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about her future.
Khaya Centre’s Young Mothers Program offered Nhlawuleko the support she needed. The program provided mentorship, guidance, and a sense of community, helping her navigate the challenges of teenage motherhood and continue her education. With Khaya Centre’s help, Nhlawuleko gained confidence and learned to balance motherhood and schooling, ultimately returning to school after a year-long break.
Despite the emotional toll and financial struggles at home, Nhlawuleko’s resilience and determination have guided her forward. With the support of her family and Khaya Centre, she is on her way to creating a better future for herself and her daughter.
Thanks to the generous support of donors, Nhlawuleko’s story is a powerful example of how education and community support can break the cycle of teenage pregnancy and poverty.
